The only other solution which works for some having a similar difficulty as you with previous versions is to create a new Windows profile, making sure it allows access by all users, and then install VS in that Profile. I have no idea why I get this problem as no one else has reported it, IIRC.)īut in each case, if I rebooted and tried installing before opening any other program, the installation would go smoothly and successfully. (Note that Protexis is a controversial addition made to VS several versions ago. I have to confess that I too have had problems with the installation of both X6 and X7 on both my Win 8.1 and Win 7 64 bit machines, though they eventually installed on both.
