(Might even be tubes need to be replaced. Capacitors in particular are probably way past their service life. It's more likely that either the power supply or something in the preamp and amp stages is bad. (See the link below.) Anyway, check that the motor is running. Its motor is outside the sealed box, the compressor and motor shaft coupling is inside, at least from the pics I've seen. There is an air pump (centrifugal compressor actually) that has to be working to push air through the reeds. AmericanListed features safe and local classifieds for everything you need States. The reeds need a source of air pressure so that they vibrate. Browse search results for wurlitzer Music instruments for sale in Schenectady, NY. There are pickups that sense the reed vibrations and then other circuitry modifies and amplifies the vibrations to create the various tones of the organ. Wurlitzer made their reeds part of the electronic tone generating circuits and they are in a sealed box so that you CAN'T hear them. But not the way they do on an accordion for instance, where you actually hear the reeds sounding. The organ has a sealed box full of reeds that help generate the sound. Now for that one thing that maybe you can check. They are the other two things that need to work, but probably best left to a service pro. So the power supply and the amplifier are potentially dangerous to work on.

That said, there is maybe one thing (of three) that needs to work that you can check. It is from these chambers in conjunction with the sole power source for the organ – Spencer Turbine Company’s Spencer Steel Orgoblo – located in the basement that the “mighty” Wurlitzer gets its might.First of all, I am NOT a qualified electronics or organ repair person. These chambers that house the ranks of pipes, the percussion, and the organs other effects, are tucked away behind the walls on either side of the Palace stage. The console is positioned in the orchestra pit and, thanks to a 2014 reinstall/refurbishment, can once again rise majestically on a lift for solo presentation and then, once the featured organist has performed, will again descend gracefully back into the orchestra pit.Ī virtually unknown and certainly unseen feature of the Lorain Palace Wurlitzer is its organ chambers.
